Bhanupriya (born Manga Anandha Bhanu) is a legendary Indian actress and classical dancer whose career has spanned over four decades. Known for her expressive eyes and graceful dancing, she was a top mainstream star between 1983 and 1995, appearing in approximately 165 feature films primarily in Tamil and Telugu.
Bhanupriya was discovered by director Bhagyaraj at a dance school. Although she was initially considered for Thooral Ninnu Pochchu , she made her official acting debut at age 15 in the Tamil film (1983). Her big break came shortly after with the Telugu hit Sitaara (1984), which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu and made her an overnight star.
